Genealogy of Life explores the idea that speciation occurs by hybridization events as well as the more conventional accumulation of mutations.
The source of the genealogy is a conversion of the 2008 Catalogue of Life which contains about 1.1 million species.
This was converted into a gedcom of 2 million “individuals” with each unique taxonomic level qualifying as an individual belonging to one of the eight Kingdom Trees.
